Mine Time event (Windows/New Players) I_icon_minitimeThu 29 Oct 2020 - 16:06 #1

*Mine Time is now working for me.*
Have not checked the wife's yet.

* Mine Time is showing delayed for some, not showing for others, and some have already started the event.
Same thing is happening on Mobile if you check @Downton Falls Mine Time post she has some more
information. My game does not show MT at all but it still has the little soon icon on the right side
and it has tnt, picks, and an ore cart on it. *

Yay! we get something new to do!!!

Mine Time is basically what it says.
The deeper you get the more points you have.

Here is a link to the Wiki that explains it.

Now during this event we may or may not get "Ore Galore"
Also a link to the wiki explaining it.

Also if that isn't enough we also now compete in the mayor's competition to become the "Champion Mayor"
Basically you win you get a reward.
Win 10 of them you get a new profile picture.

Several ways to go about this.

1. Start at the very beginning and dig your heart out.
Depending on who you are grouped with you may or may not win.
Grouping is by level up to a certain point. once you pass 100 or so it becomes a free for all.

2. Delay the start until the second day.
Gives the benefit of Ore Galore which doubles the amount of ore you get.
(This is my preferred method on Mobile)

2a. Delay until the start of the 2nd Ore Galore if it is a 6 day event.
Same as 2 but depending on the number of picks you have
you may not be able to maximize the amount of ore.

3. Start as close to the end as you are comfortable with.
This will not give you a lot of ore.
This also gives you the best chance at an easy win. 50 Tcash and a lot of copper ingots.
This is not a guaranteed win but it gives you a very good chance.

Hopefully this helps.
If you have questions please don't hesitate to ask them

I shall also leave this here. Playrix seems to know about us players doing delay starts. Those who started on day 1 usually have a 55 t cash prize + more whatever coupons or ingots (1st prize) than those who start on day 2. As I have not compared last day starting with day 5 starting, I do not know of the prize difference.

@Calliie I never noticed an extra 5 tcash for starting on day 1.
It might be worth it to do just enough to get into the game then
wait until day 2 to dig with mucho gusto!

Mine on Windows 10 said 2 days and 16 hours left and when I went to my mobile game it said 3 days 16 hours! Weird!

"3. Start as close to the end as you are comfortable with."

Is this the same reasoning as a delayed start in a regatta? To try to be in a different group from the really competitive players? If the really competitve players are waiting til the end or waiting for Ore Galore, wouldn't it then be less competitive players in the first group starting as soon as the event begins?

Second question - Is there a limit to the amount of ore stored in the storage box?

Competition is fierce when starting very late, BUT  you use a lot fewer tools.
As far as I know, mine storage is unlimited.

Mine Time event (Windows/New Players) I_icon_minitimeTue 3 Nov 2020 - 12:43 #9

This time I am starting with 11,300+ picks, 1,600+ sticks of dynamite and 600+ plungers of TNT. My group's top competitors are currently in the neighborhood depths of 2,400 to 2,900.

I will use this first day of Ore Galore (and See the Light booster) to employ the overwhelming brut force strategy by digging down over 10,000 levels while meandering the mine for all the ore I can extract.

This week's regatta will be completed by primarily doing mining, smelting and HoL tasks (and perhaps one island task). All the while buying more mining tools from the dealer and watching the moves of my MT competitors.

@douglasnorth this is a strategy that has been purposed on several other places.
I do not follow it myself because I'm greedy and want the ore.
On mobile I have finished the Mayor's Champion Event so It's all about the ore on there.
On PC it's about the ore and winning,
Just started today 1st was at 530. I doubled it and am getting ready to go vote.
Then to the doctor. Plus work has already called wanting me to come in.

@Mic Miller Go Mic Go!!!!

Mine Time event (Windows/New Players) I_icon_minitimeThu 5 Nov 2020 - 15:03 #11

The results are in...

Between my wife and I we tried most of the proposed methods of mining.
(Note: The wife and I both have the Mayor's Champion on mobile)

1. Start at the very beginning and dig your heart out.
Did this with my mobile town. At least I started at the beginning.
Came in a comfortable 8th.

My wife pushed and got to 2nd, First was 1,000 ahead and she did not want to use that many mine tools

2. Delay the start until the second day.
This is my preferred method.
1st had 500 points when I started. Chased them down and double it.
I ended a comfortable 1000 points ahead.
Plenty of ore but no where near the tools I have on mobile.
But I have my first win in the Mayor's Cup

3. Start as close to the end as you are comfortable with.
My wife decided to test this theory
and she gives it a resounding thumbs down.
She was able to get in the top 3 but just didn't have the time to finish catching first.
Waited until 30 minutes left to start.
We both feel if it was an hour she might have caught them.

In summation.
4 towns.
First, Second, Third, and Eighth place.

Happy Mining to all
and a Transporting good night!
