OK, now that we've got what we asked for, what is all this new stuff?
Can someone from the non-Windows side of this game please post some links to all the things that are different for Windows players that haven't any experience with Professor Verne and Hammer Time and the tool exchange and on and on and on?
Help me, I've fallen down the rabbit hole and can't find my way out.
Hey Doug... how do get the new update... Playrix have given me the link but what do I do... uninstall my current Township from Windows and then reinstall using the game link on Microsoft's website?
1. Tool Exchange (replacement for Old Mint I think), 2. 1 yellow tools = 4-6 pieces (slabs, bricks, glass) - - >exchange part. 3. Slabs. Bricks, glass sells for like little coins, after exchanging to yellow tools you can sell them for 200 coins. 4. After a certain levels, community building required yellow tools instead of all 3 of bricks, slabs and glass. The pros ( lesser tools to stock in barn). Just keep exchanging to yellow tools even when you are done with all the community buildings to earn a bit of coins.
Hammer time is just a weekly event where you play a mini games and earn some prizes.
Before you dive into the rabbit hole, please check how many days you have for Professor Verne. For us Ios/Android players, there is only 5 days left. For most of the professor tasks, they are what you do on a daily basis.

Exactly right. uninstall, then restart device (laptop or whatever) and reinstall and follow the prompts. Be prepared for a lot of popups and new bewildering stuff. Good luck

Hello Doug, the tool exchange is needed for CBs from level 60 on. It trades old building materials for jackhammers, drilling machines and Electric saws. You can buy up to three slots to have three trading offers. You can delete offers and they will refresh after 60 minutes. For CBs you will need one kind of old materials and two kinds of new materials (the amounts can be found on the wiki). Planning is rather easy, as the combinations are always the same:
Combination 1: slabs with jackhammers and electric saws Combination 2: bricks with drills and jackhammers Combination 3: glass with drills and electric saws
These combinations have not varied once and they repeat each other regularly.
If you try to build zoo enclosures at the same time, it will be a pain in the neck, because they use lots of the materials. Therefore I advise to let your zoo be until you finish all CBs. In the new version the zoo has no value to your gameplay and is purely decorative.

Do you know about the Fandom Wiki? Lots of good info there! My only tips are upgrade your trains to level 21, if you havent already, and embrace the tool exchange. I agree with @KnitAddict, forget the zoo until all CBs are built.
Has anyone got any tips on how to communicate to the co-op members who were left behind when we started to update our towns?
At first, it seemed that players on both sides of the curtain could read some of the chat from the other side, albeit randomly. But now that doesn't seem to be the case. I'm not sure if messages sent to the Inbox can be seen by both sides.
I'm thinking that if I left my co-op and created a new co-op, I might be able to send messages via the "invite to join" method to those players who haven't updated yet. Any thoughts on that idea?

Latest info: the two MIA players both lost their old towns when they updated and had to start a new town from scratch. They were able to rejoin our co-op once they got to lvl 19. Not sure if the invite to join message system works across the "update curtain"
